So a while back I did a piece of this kinda abstracted looking flower and a bee and really liked how it turned out. So heres round two of it. Switch it up make it look a little more like a legit flower( flowers are weird looking anyway so legit is anything ) and put in a bird. I got so many new ideas after doing this piece..MY MIND IS GOING TO EXPLODE!!!!
Enjoy!

A new piece for a good friend, I’ve done a few for him in the past and he always has some cool ideas of what he wants. The newest is a display piece painted on a drum. The first drum is a lot simpler, the second one(coming in a few days) is going to be a lot crazier. You might be able to play it but it might be a little safer to just hang it.
Enjoy!
drawn in
color missing black
skull and crossbones reference
outlines
finished and glossed
Just had to post this cause the sides looked super clean with pure white sids and black hardware.

So this is a repaint of a piece I did about a year ago. Something about trees that I’m always drawn back to, maybe its the mindless amount of tiny lines you have to put in. Anyways this is one of my favorite piece i’ve done recently(I know I say that about every piece when its done) but this one was different cause I actually got a chance to practice shading which I never do. This ones already sold but I had so much fun with it anyone else interested in one i’d love to do more! Also there is few pictures of the process of this one. Im not sure what cause it but the light affected it so much. The background color changes in every picture and the glare was always there. It took like 100 tries but the finished picture turned out perfect!
Enjoy!
Background color with light streaks
trunk
right side coming in, this piece was so weird because until the end it felt like it was so unbalanced with the amount of branches on each side
still super unbalanced
I have a horrible habit when I’m working on pieces like this with super fine lines, after I put in like 2 or 3 lines I lick the brush so the point is sharp again. By the end of 30 minutes of painting my mouth is always covered in black paint
All done! Shading was fun after I started to get the hang of it, and branch overlaps added so much to it. It looks good in the picture but cant even compare to it in person. So stoked

I’ve got piles laying everywhere, stacks of old broken skateboards. After staring at them for too long I decided to try and chop one up and do a cutout style painting on it. Such a change from cutting thin masonite to trying to get through seven layers of thin ply. Also the concave of the board gives it that cool bowed look. Another piece like it already started, I got plenty of boards to try and turn into art!
Enjoy!
7.75″ x 11.5″ – $40

I think cutouts have to my favorite pieces to work with . This one in an old piece I did a while back and it was time to do a repaint on it. I love repaints cause you can really see the progression you’ve made since the first. Check out the difference (http://hobbsart.com/progression/beauty-in-death) So here is the new version of “Beauty in Death”.
Enjoy!

On September 10th a really awesome event took place in downtown Loveland to benefit the Southern Larimer County Safehouse Project. Alternatives to Violence hosted Pastels on 5th where businesses could sponsor an artist to create a work of art on a sidewalk tile. I never realized how much work it is to completely cover a 6ft x 5ft chunk of cement or some of the wild techniques others were using to make it look amazing. What can I say I’m a total pastel am but I had a blast! Now being the day after my legs feel like they were hit by a bus from all the ups and downs and my finger tips are completely raw. Cant ask for a better event going to an amazing cause!
Enjoy!
Drawn in and realizing how hard it was to make colors come thru pure
top half of the bird in
ready for main outline
all outlined and ready for the background to be put in.
Clouds clouds and more clouds. And a few of them look like they’re suffering from a little pollution. From my fingers all the way up to my armpits were completely black and it really dirtied up some colors
Was hunched over like this way too much. Thank you to whoever took this picture All done! And THANK YOU so much to Mckee Medical Center for sponsoring me for this event

The final box. Lost a lot of sleep trying to get this one done and it might be my favorite out of all three of them. Maybe I just like painting birds or maybe its because the pieces actually got done on time and I’m just relieved. Right after I had fully finished outlining it I looked at the birds and they looked like they were screaming at each other. Not sure how I didn’t realize that the entire time. I blame lack of sleep so that ended up being a last minute change. A piece is never fully done I guess.
P.S. (I really sucked at taking a lot of pictures of the process of this one)
Enjoy!

So here is box two. I keep looking at these and putting a time limit on them and then I sit painting and watching the time shoot past. It is kinda surprising the time it takes to paint all 5 sides of these. But I should have just enough time to get the last one finished before the deadline. The second one I decided to put a abstracted heart on the top and out of every artery shapes pour out creating an abstract face on each side. One left to go!
Enjoy!

Pieces in my past have been coming back lately and are opening up so many new opportunities and recently the transformer project brought this one to me. The ACE project held this year at the Agilent Technology building is hosting 400 business people and I got lucky enough to paint 3 centerpieces for the tables there. They’re a mock version of full size transformer cabinets and I will do everything I can to make mine super chaotic. Heres my first one. The concept is how our brain works. Every shape represents a thought, memory, idea or piece of imagination our brain shoots out.
enjoy!
