Make A Mark Shoe Exhibit- My Shoes

I got super lucky to get to take part in this event that the owner of Blacklist Boardshop in Greeley put on. 12 artists created 12 custom pairs of Vans showing off so many different styles of art. This is the approach that I took, to completely cover the shoes sole and all. This was definitely a learning experience and paint doesn’t like to stick to rubber. So here are some pictures of the process of them coming together and a lot of angles of the shoes all finished. If you’re in the area go check out the show at Blacklist- 919 16th st Greeley CO until the 12th of August.

You can also bid on the shoes to own them through the 12th!!!

Enjoy!

A Piece to My Dad

Theres one person that got me into art, one person who has always kept me with it since I was a child, and one person who has helped and believed in me more in the past few years as I have been working to make it a career…my dad. Anytime I needed to build a canvas or needed help with anything to progress my art further hes always been there to help.  Thats true support and I hope he knows how much I appreciate it. So here was a piece to him. Super bright and kinda chaotic yet flows.  I hope will look good hanging in his house.

Thank you for everything you do to support me. Its appreciated beyond words

This is probably the hardest wrapped edge piece I have done. With one inch sides and so many shapes shooting off the sides edges were rough but always add to a piece

Color Without Content

Going into this newest piece all I wanted to do was paint something a little bigger and just paint random shapes. Just a piece filled with crazy colors and a chaotic look. It’ll be one of those pieces that everyone can see in their own way. They’ll spot things they see and I don’t and I’ll see what they miss. That’s what I love about these pieces. And even if you see nothing just enjoy it!

Shape of Love

Back to the basics i guess. No holes or cutouts or pieces coming off the canvas, just a good old painting. I just started drawing shapes and after the few all I could see was a V and the top of a lower case E. So working around that why not put a word wrapped into the twisting shapes. Hey maybe people will see it if not itll be something hidden amoung the other shapes that just look like an abstracted mess of color.  Finish it all offf with a heart and rays of sun blasting from the center and you got my newest piece!

Enjoy!

Just kind of a random piece I wanted to do. I wanted to take some of the owls I had done in the past and give it a fresher look.  Too many ideas I want to do for upcoming pieces that my mind can focus. So this was a great piece to kinda sit back, relax and just have fun with. Next piece to do… who even knows

I See a Flower and a Bee What Do You See!

After all the stress to get a show up and an entry in for a city project  in such a short amount of time I was pretty brain dead. Lack of sleep and trying to finish paintings in two to three days I was exhausted. So this piece came up kinda random. Two days with no ideas on what to do next, finally I just began drawing shapes. The night before I was trying to come up with an idea using bees and as the shapes began to come together the next day I began to see a abstracted flower. There it began to come together..and some wayI found a way to put a bee in it. Bright colors back again.

A Whale of a Tale

The bank showing is done and up and I have a few days off to paint whatever random thing comes to my mind. Ive really been wanting to do a whale and originally it was going to be part of the unbrella series but it just didnt fit in whith this piece. So why not a fish fishing a fish. It made sense in my head and had a entertaining look in the end.

Piece Six. I’m Back Stuck on Cutouts

The show is starting to come together with piece 6 finally finished. I still want to get a few more done. But Im happy with how its coming together now, the variety is coming into place. Cutouts have become such a huge part of what I paint and I was lacking them lately. I Have the worst painting A.D.D. I never stick to one thing for long but I have to bring it back. It brings so much more life to the piece and I will continue to change it up. I will continue to seek new ways to change up what I do. Never know what I will come up with next. I have no idea either. I guess well find out soon but first this show needs a few more pieces. Gotta push out a few last ones in the next few days!

Enjoy!

This piece was planned to be another box painting but my girlfriend convinced a cutout was more suited with it

Piece 5 a New Take on “Head in the Clouds”

This is a piece I have done over and over again. Yet it is my best selling piece. I first did it in the the Whole Foods show and like the original owl painting I am drawn back to it again and again.  But each time I repaint it I try to enhance it, maybe with a new style or by adding something different to it. With this one I have went from the original canvas piece to wood plank and the newest cutout wood canvas (I need to do a progression on this and the owl from the original to what it is now). Theres so many styles or takes in between that I cant even think of but heres my newest take on “Head in the Clouds”.  The newest version mixes a new take on the original mixed with my cutout paintings and the overflowing elements to my recent work.  So you end up with something new. Possibly one of the hardest cutouts ive done. Not only did I have to cut out the outside detail but also inside work. Most paintings are a lot of relatively constant straight or long curved lines but this one was nothing but the tightest curved cloud lines. The outcome was something new and more difficult then the usual piece. I sure hope the bank viewers love it.

Enjoy!
